“I had to choose a favorite moment from this new season so far and the truth is that I didn’t a specific one – I just love the whole thing!  But then I remembered this awesome speech Rayna gave when she won that last CMA. That speech also reminded me a video I watched couple of days ago of a conversation between Connie Britton and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand about women and power.

I choose the CMAs Rayna speech moment because I am a true believer of that empowerment of women.  I am a young woman, making her path in the world, alone. I want to be able to have the same experience men have and think that, us, women, must be heard and must be respected. We deserve exactly the same rights as men and sometimes even more.

Rayna gives me that hope. To me, Rayna’s speech is the best way to describe this new world that we are trying to create. A world where men and women should be considered equals and full partners in every aspect of life.

That speech also wrapped up perfectly the conflict between Luke and Rayna throughout the episode. Luke ended up yelling at Rayna and tried to make her feel like she was stealing something from him and that if good things were happening to her it was because he was standing with her. That didn’t prevent her from winning and do it in the classiest and most inspiring way after getting a standing ovation from the audience (including some people at home). That’s because it didn’t have anything to do with him, she was just doing a better job than him.”

“To all the men out there… Remember… There is plenty of sunshine for all of us!”

  1. Agree! I loved that line “there is plenty of sunshine for all of us”! And even if I inititally felt queasy watching the episode, cause I wished Rayna would had acted differently, I can now appreciate the elegance in this episode and that scene in particular and how it, as you say, wraps up the whole conflict between Rayna and Luke, not only in this episdoe, but in this season. Also I think that line can apply in general. No need to be jealous really, there is plenty of sun…
